 Western Balkans Environment Programe has launched invitation to NGOs to submit project proposals for the area of Tuzla. By the time provided for submission of project proposals UNDP has received five project proposals. Based evaluation conclusions it was decided that two project proposals will be funded in coming period. Both projects will demonstrate Energy Efficiency possibilities as part of capacity building component of the Programe.

 Under Western Balkans Environment Programe UNDP has started implementation of Training Program in Energy Efficiency in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This program is aimed to strengthen capacities, awareness and the level of knowledge of target groups about energy efficiency and renewable energy sources through trainings/workshops for municipality managers, local authorities and stakeholders in building and industry sector in 5 municipalities...

During June 2009, UNDP BH started assessment within Tuzla Municipality on potential new sub-project that fits to overall goal of the project, that can be done with the remaining funds from Ugljevik and that can be finalized within the project timeframe. After Donors approval of Plan B (16th of July 2009) these funds were allocated to Tuzla. The new project initiative (Plan B) consists of two component:

In the period January–May 2009, UNDP BiH had frequent contact with the Management of Coal Mine and Thermo Power Plant Ugljevik regarding signing of the Cost Sharing Agreement (CSA). Unfortunately, Ugljevik failed to sign the proposed CSA, which was the subject of several changes, in order to accommodate some of the requests from the Thermo Power Plant. The MoU, singed in spring 2008, was terminated by UNDP BH on June 2, 2009
